Job Description
The Evening Shift Laboratory Supervisor will be involved in special chemistry testing and work with the team to correct errors, troubleshoot issues, and oversee departmental activities. This role includes distributing and assigning work, determining priorities, and scheduling non-routine procedures. The supervisor will perform advanced and specialized tests, re-evaluate methodologies, initiate quality control measures, and complete special projects as requested.
Responsibilities
+ Oversee the activities of the department, distribute and assign work, determine priorities, and schedule non-routine procedures.
+ Perform supervisory functions for assigned staff including interviewing, hiring, training, and providing staff development through performance evaluation and corrective counseling.
+ Perform advanced and specialized tests and other related laboratory techniques.
+ Duplicate work of others to confirm test results, re-evaluate methodologies, make recommended changes, and assist in test interpretation.
+ Determine if further testing should be done on samples or if tests should be repeated.
+ Check and approve all specialized and problem reports for accuracy.
+ Initiate quality-control measures and monitor the quality of work for adherence to laboratory standards.
+ Complete special projects as requested, such as surveys, statistical reports, studies, and research.
+ Complete training and competency requirements to all established CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and laboratory safety requirements.
+ Participate in government or regulatory agency inspections.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor's Degree in a Life Science, preferably Chemistry or Medical Laboratory Science.
+ ASCP Certification - MLS or Chemistry C (ASCP).
+ 4-6 years of Clinical Lab Experience in high-complexity testing lab.
+ 1-2 years of Supervisory experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience in Clinical Chemistry lab, preferred.
Work Environment
Clinical Lab Environment - A very busy lab with increasing volumes. Evening shift hours are Monday through Friday from 4 pm to 12:30 am with rotational weekends (you will get a day off during the week for weekend shifts). There is a 10% shift differential on hours worked during the evening shift. The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $95000.00/yr.
