Laboratory Technician Job Description Our team is seeking a Laboratory Technician for the Tick Borne Pathogen Testing Lab. The technician will be responsible for conducting pathogen testing, including DNA extractions, finalizing assays, PCR, and more. The majority of testing will involve PCR, including RT-PCR and Q-PCR. The technician will work with tick samples, testing for positivity and pathogens, extracting nucleic acids, and working with both negative and positive controls. They will also utilize the LIMS system and follow proper protocols, documentation, and processes. Responsibilities + Conduct pathogen testing, including DNA extractions and finalizing assays. + Perform PCR testing, including RT-PCR and Q-PCR. + Work with tick samples to test for positivity and pathogens. + Extract nucleic acids from samples and work with negative and positive controls. + Utilize the LIMS system for data management. + Follow proper lab protocols, documentation, and processes. Essential Skills + Experience with PCR testing, including RT-PCR and Q-PCR. + Proficiency in DNA and RNA work. + Experience with molecular sequencing and specimen processing. + Strong pipetting skills. + Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences (Biology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, etc.). + Experience with data analysis and documentation. + Knowledge of aseptic techniques and experience wearing PPE and following proper lab protocols.
