Job Description
The Laboratory Technician's primary responsibility is to provide support to laboratory staff in various areas of laboratory operations. The role requires flexibility as the daily needs of the laboratory will change frequently. The Laboratory Technician will report to the general manager and/or operations manager for their daily assignments.
ResponsibilitiesIndependently prepare and analyze samples using analytical SOPs and department-specific instrumentation after appropriate training.Perform routine operation, maintenance, and calibration of laboratory instruments and equipment.Assist with validation and MDL studies.Support investigation and preparation of responses to client inquiries and Corrective Action Reports (CARs).Input and maintain technical information to support laboratory functions and operations.Maintain Laboratory Notebook where applicable.Adhere to internal standards, policies, and procedures.Perform other duties as assigned.Essential SkillsExperience with general chemistry techniques including wet chemistry, titrations, dilutions, pH testing, and viscosity.Comfortable handling various acids, bases, and reagents with appropriate PPE.Experience in organic extraction, metals, and/or GC or GCMS techniques.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint, etc.).Effective communication skills and ability to work under minimal guidance.Ability to multi-task and manage shifting priorities each day.Additional Skills & QualificationsKnowledge and concern for environmental issues is a plus.Demonstrated integrity and respect towards others and company principles.Excellent time management skills and ability to balance multiple projects concurrently.Work Environment
The work is conducted in a chemistry lab, focusing on extractions and sample preparations for analysis. Business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, but willingness to work a flexible schedule is required. Longer hours, evenings, and/or weekend work may be necessary frequently as job duties demand. Some lab technician work may require 3rd shift (9 pm-5 am), using chemicals and solvents to prep soil and water samples for analysis on a Total Organic Carbon (TOC) instrument.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00
