Job Title: Laboratory Technician
Job Description
Work as a member of the Sample Management team. The primary job function includes processing seed samples, counting or weighing seeds, grinding seeds, dishwashing, and making buffers. Additionally, maintain lab supplies, safety standards, and documents. Assistance with routine testing and supporting other seed health groups may be required. Adherence to all safety regulations is mandatory. A successful candidate is organized, demonstrates good time management, has strong attention to detail, and is a supportive team member. May be asked to work overtime and/or occasional Saturday shifts to meet business needs.
Responsibilities
+ Process seed samples including counting, weighing, and grinding seeds
+ Perform dishwashing and buffer preparation tasks
+ Maintain lab supplies and safety standards
+ Assist in routine testing and support other seed health groups as needed
+ Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and safety regulations
+ Work collaboratively with lab coordinators, lab analysts, and other seasonal contractors
Essential Skills
+ Competent with basic Microsoft Office software
+ Strong attention to detail
+ Ability to work effectively in a team
+ Willingness to ask questions and seek help when needed
+ Adherence to SOPs and safety and quality standards
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience working in a lab environment
+ Experience with agriculture
+ High school diploma, associates degree, or some college preferred
+ No specific certifications required
Work Environment
The role is onsite at the Woodland, CA site. It is a longstanding team environment that has worked together for years and is accustomed to integrating seasonal contractors. The work involves team collaboration with a typical workweek of 40 hours, potential for overtime, and occasional Saturday shifts. The workday starts at 7 am. No driving or travel is required. The work environment is a laboratory setting where PPE is required and provided. The dress code includes closed-toe shoes, long pants, and sleeves, but is otherwise casual. Training will be provided and paid, with the first several weeks dedicated to this process.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00
