SUMMARY:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to join our innovative team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with 3D printing technology, plasma cutting, and other fabrication equipment. The candidate should have a strong ability to monitor testing equipment, read schematics, and conduct product testing. This role involves collaborating with engineers and designers to produce high-quality prototypes and ensure product reliability.

Powerex manufactures industry-leading Equipment for many critical applications in addition to designing and assembling Compressed Air solutions for use in a variety of industrial applications including buses, trucks, and light rail.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Conduct testing on air compressors following established procedures and protocolsPerform teardowns of air compressor components for inspection and analysisDocument findings accurately and thoroughly in test result reportsRead and interpret schematics and technical drawings to guide product development and testingConduct thorough product testing, assessing performance, durability, and compliance with specificationsDocument testing procedures and results accurately, providing insights for design improvementsDevelop and optimize 3D printing parameters and plasma cutting settings for various materialsCollaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and specificationsSet up and program lathe, mill, and other fabrication equipment to produce prototype parts with precisionSelect appropriate materials and tooling for manufacturing prototype partsInspect and measure prototype parts to ensure conformance to specificationsCollaborate closely with NPD engineers to understand design requirements and provide input on manufacturability and feasibilityPrioritize tasks to meet project deadlines and adapt to changing project requirementsTroubleshoot issues that may arise during prototyping and/or teardown inspection and propose effective solutionsMaintain a safe and organized work environment in the machine shopAdhere to and enforce safety guidelines in laboratory and machine shop areaPerform preventative maintenance and repair of lab and machine shop equipment

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED, some secondary schooling preferredProven experience with 3D printers, plasma cutting machines, and other fabrication pieces of equipment used in fabricationFamiliarity with materials used in welding, punching, forming, and 3D printing

Preferred Skills:

Experience with product testing methodologies and quality assurance processesKnowledge of electronics and circuitry is a plusExperience in fabrication is a plusAbility to troubleshoot technical issues related to printing, cutting, and testing processesAbility to read and interpret schematics and technical documentationExcellent problem-solving skills and attention to detailAbility to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environmentStrong communication skills, both verbal and written
