Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for culturing, treating, and preparing samples for testing. You will initially work in the FISH (fluorescence in situ hybridization) area, a laboratory technique used to detect and locate specific DNA sequences on chromosomes. Your tasks will also include pipetting and extracting DNA and RNA to identify sequences, while strictly following SOPs for sample preparation, movement, and diagnostics.
ResponsibilitiesCulture, treat, and prepare samples for testing.Start in the FISH area, using laboratory techniques to detect and locate specific DNA sequences on chromosomes.Perform pipetting tasks.Extract DNA and RNA to identify sequences.Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) for sample preparation, movement, and diagnostics.Assist with prep work for the diagnostic team.Essential SkillsProficiency in chemistry, biology, and microbiology.Experience with sample preparation and sample management.Bachelor's degree in biological sciences.Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor's degree in biological sciences, verified by transcripts.Work Environment
The position is based in a Molecular Pathology Lab located in the LL Building. The lab is very clean, organized, and operates in a fast-paced healthcare environment. The working hours are Monday to Friday, with a start time of 7:30/8 am.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $26.00/hr.
