Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Laboratory Technician for the Molecular Biology and Biochemistry Department within the School of Arts and Sciences. This position will under supervision of lab head and PhD scientists, perform a variety of tasks devoted to prepare and manage stocks of growth media for the C. elegans genetics model.
Among the key duties of this position are the following: Provides routine technical support relative to scientific research work. Sterile media preparation to support efforts of two C. elegans research labs. Handles inventory and order supplies for C. elegans and bacterial growth media. C. elegans strain collection management. Assists in C. elegans stock freezing, cataloging, mailing. Collects and completes basic preparation of samples and specimens. Performs standard and repetitive physical, chemical, and biological tests on materials, substances, and/or living subjects. Prepares media, substances, solutions, and reagents and performs related duties as required.
