What You'll Be DoingJob Scope: We are seeking an entry level Laboratory Technician - Chemist with laboratory experience for the Product Development Team to work closely with a Senior Scientist to develop and evaluate new materials for gas separation membrane applications. You will be a part of the Product Development Team in the Product and Applications Development organization within Membrane Solutions. You will work closely with a Senior Scientist to execute product development plans and support laboratory operations as needed with analysis and chemical expertise.
Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Perform all operations according to our safety requirements and maintain workplace safety in complete alignment with our Total Safety Philosophy
Conduct experiments following established procedures under the direction of a Sr. Scientist to develop new materials with desired properties.
Ability to work with hazardous chemicals in a safe manner following existing procedures.
Accurately document all experiments including observations and results and maintain laboratory records.
Assist in maintaining laboratory chemical inventory.
Employ standard analytical techniques to characterize materials and test polymers to evaluate their performance under different conditions and environment.
Assist in maintaining all laboratory and analytical equipment.
Identify potential improvements to equipment operations and laboratory procedures.
Assist in the development of weekly work objectives.
Prepare data with analysis for discussion with development team.
Ideal BackgroundEducation: High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Associate or Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry or related field from an accredited university is preferred.
Experience: This position requires a 1+ years of relevant industrial experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Adept in laboratory techniques and equipment.
Ability to accurately follow existing laboratory procedures and protocols.
Ability to learn new methods and techniques.
Experience in chemical research is a plus but not required.
Communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work with people with positivity from all cultures and at all organizational levels.
Ability to work and contribute in a team environment.
Ability to thrive in an environment of change.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry in excess of 25 lbs.
