Our team is growing, and as a result we're looking a **Laboratory Technician** to join our amazing group of professionals. As part of the **Construction Services, Materials Engineering and Laboratory Group** in **Burlington** , you'll be responsible for driving forward our ambitious plans to enhance our service offering in the province through your work with a close-knit team of engineering specialists, professionals, and technical staff.

**What you can expect to do here:**
+ Support sample management and the safe materials handling practices required for receiving, logging, handling, storage, and disposal of samples, as well as occasional shipping of samples;
+ The ability to lift up and handle samples up to 25kg;
+ Following various test methods; preparing samples for testing, including cutting samples using a stationary concrete saw, preparing samples on a polishing wheel, pulverizing samples, and preparing samples for external analysis;
+ Conduct laboratory testing following test standards on soils, aggregates, concrete, and other construction materials as required, ensuring accurate and reliable data for reporting, data entry, and uploading documents to project folders and drives;
+ Participate in relevant CCIL certifications as needed;
+ Support equipment maintenance and general housekeeping requirements to ensure a safe working environment in the laboratory.
+ Report safety observations (positive occurrences, hazards, near misses) relevant to the laboratory as necessary;
+ Interact with staff in the office including laboratory technicians, administrative staff, and professional staff.
**What you’ll bring to WSP:**
+ Successful completion of post-secondary technical education in Civil Engineering/Technology or related discipline;
+ Experience working in a materials laboratory (preferred, but not required);
+ Initiative and a willingness to learn;
+ Work ethic that is conscientious, detail oriented and organized;
+ Time management skills, organizational skills, and an ability to maintain a tidy work space;
+ Independent thinking skills, problem-solving skills, and can conduct work with attention to detail;
+ Ability to follow directions carefully, and work independently;
+ A team-oriented focus, collaborating with other laboratory personnel, sharing the workload where needed;
+ Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, scheduling and coordinating multiple tasks and assignments;
+ Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook);
+ A safety conscious attitude, following the health and safety procedures for the laboratory.
