JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
As the Lab technician assists the supervisor in all aspects of job responsibilities.
- Maintains competency testing documentation of all the training provided.
- Assists section supervisor with department functions.
- Communicates problems with Supervisor or Lab Manager as needed.
- Independently performs work without undue reliance on others and assists co-workers as time permits
- Keeps abreast of new procedures and policies
- Maintains neat, accurate and complete records according to established policies and procedures
Performs all job duties in accordance with established protocols- Correctly receives, accessions, processes, and assures proper identification of specimens
- Evaluates specimen integrity and notifies appropriate personnel of unacceptable specimens in accordance with departmental procedure.
- Independently performs work without undue reliance on others and assists co-workers as time permits.
- Acquires and maintains proficiency in departmental functions.
Completes all work assignments in a timely manner.- Prioritizes and organizes workflow, meeting productivity goals of the section
- Adjusts to daily workflows and assists daily as needed.
- Remains knowledgeable of processes and pre-analytical procedures enabling efficient trouble shooting and problem solving
- Assists with monitoring and documenting of the sections inventory control system while assuring effective use of supplies.
High school graduation or equivalent. One year of experience in a clinical medical laboratory or similar setting. With preferred degree, no experience required.
