Laboratory Technologist 2 Job Summary:
The Laboratory Technologist II is responsible for performing additional procedures for the majority of time; uses professional service standards to provide reliable, accurate, efficient and patient focused laboratory services.
Duties/Accountabilities:
1. Performs additional procedures for the majority of time; performs routine procedures in various sections of the laboratory as required, following established departmental procedures.
2. Collects specimens from inpatients and outpatients as required.
3. Performs maintenance on related equipment and reports equipment malfunctions to the Section Head.
4. Performs all clerical and written tasks associated with additional and routine procedures, and comiles statistics as required.
5. Ensures that quality control standards are met and reports problems to the Section Head as they occur.
6. Maintains a safe and tidy working environment.
7. Assists with orientation of new staff.
8. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education, Training & Experience
Graduate of a recognized school of Medical Technology, plus a minimum of one years' recent, related experience. Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) Certified.
Skills & Abilities
Ability to work independently and as a team member.
Ability to facilitate positive change.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to organize workload assignments and set priorities.
Ability to develop and present educational material.
Ability to operate related equipment.
Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
