Summary You will serve as a LABORER in the NAVAL WAR COLLEGE DEPARTMENT of NAVAL WAR COLLEGE. Responsibilities You will perform daily custodial tasks to enhance the appearance of NWC buildings and grounds. You will remove trash and recycling where not supported by Custodial Maintenance Contract. You will perform custodial services using various custodial equipment such as vacuums, mops, floor buffers, steam cleaners, extractors, and hand cleaning tools and materials. You will perform daily gardening and grounds tasks to maintain NWC campus grounds by collecting trash and debris, performing landscaping services, power-washing patio and plaza areas, and parking lot/garage and street cleaning. You will assist in the performance of hardscape repairs utilizing commercial tractor with front-end loader bucket attachment including regrading of stone parking lots and resetting of curb stops. You will support numerous events including conferences, meetings, lectures, retirement and promotion ceremonies, war games, social functions, and graduations. You will perform setup and break-down requirements, to include staging furniture, fixture, and furnishings, pre and post event cleaning services, and other tasks as assigned. You will respond to off-hour facility requirements as required, to include adverse weather and emergency facility repairs. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. I have the ability to perform common tasks including: 1) Assisting with upkeep of buildings and grounds; 2) Assisting with cleaning, using custodial equipment; 3) Using hand tools and small landscaping equipment. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
