Performs basic maintenance and repairs to structures, facilities, and equipment, i.e., housekeeping activities, fabrication and installations, routine cleaning and servicing of vehicles, and cement mixing and preparation. Operates power and hand tool equipment. May operate vehicles to and from work locations. Monitors inventory control. Performs additional miscellaneous assignments as required. WORKING CONDITIONS This position routinely requires stooping, bending, and/or lifting of items of 30 - 80 pounds with occasional periods of walking on rough surfaces. There are routine exposures to significant levels of heat, cold, moisture and air pollution. The position may involve periodic exposure to chemical substances and physical trauma of a minor nature such as cuts, bruises, and minor burns. This is a Houston Public Works Emergency Management position at the Tier I Level. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Very fundamental levels of the ability to read, write and follow simple oral instructions as might normally be acquired through up to 8 years of formal schooling. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS No experience is required.
