1st Shift Heavy Laborer $19/hour

Job Description

As a General Laborer, you will use hand tools and equipment to perform cleaning tasks on machinery and work areas. Responsibilities include cleaning ash from products, shoveling into buckets, cleaning oil spills, and performing overall cleaning of machinery during shutdowns. You must be able to repetitively lift, stoop, bend, squat, kneel, reach, or crawl and lift up to 50 lbs unassisted. Climbing ladders attached to machinery or stairs is required. Use of PPE is mandatory for certain areas.

ResponsibilitiesPerform cleaning tasks on machinery and work areas using hand tools and equipment.Clean ash from products and shovel into buckets.Clean oil spills and other debris from areas around machinery.Conduct overall cleaning of entire machines during shutdowns.Repetitively lift, stoop, bend, squat, kneel, reach, or crawl.Lift up to 50 lbs unassisted.Climb ladders attached to machinery or stairs.Use PPE, including double hearing protection, fire-resistant coveralls, eye protection, and hard hats in designated areas.Essential SkillsExperience in general labor, production, hand tool and power tool usage, and cleaning.Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.Experience working varied hours if required.Experience in manufacturing, industrial, or construction settings.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with power washing or hydro blasting equipment.Industrial cleaning experience.Experience in construction or landscaping type roles Understanding of confined spaces and respirator usage.Why Work Here?

Work Environment

You will work as a third-party contractor at a steel mill. The environment is hot, dirty, loud, dusty, and oily. The standard workweek is 40 hours with an 8-hour shift starting at 6:30 am. Overtime may require earlier or later shifts. PPE required includes steel-toe boots, eye protection, hard hats, double hearing protection, and fire-resistant coveralls.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
