Conti Federal Services, a leading global construction and engineering company specializing in government projects, is seeking a Laborer – Common or General to join our dynamic team. As a Laborer – Common or General, you will contribute to the successful completion of government-funded construction projects.
General Position Description
The Laborer – Common or General is responsible for performing various tasks to aid daily operations at a construction site. The duties include maintaining a clean, safe and efficient construction site while also supporting the overall project. Your dedication to safety, attention to detail, and commitment to a clean job site will help us deliver outstanding results.
Responsibilities
+ Cleaning and preparing construction sites.
+ Loading and unloading materials and equipment.
+ Building and taking down scaffolding and temporary structures.
+ Digging trenches, compacting earth and backfilling holes.
+ Operating and tending machinery and heavy equipment.
+ Following instructions from supervisors and implementing construction plans.
+ Operate a variety of hand and power tools, including drills and other tools as directed by management while maintaining proper documentation.
+ Removing and properly disposing of debris and waste materials.
+ Shovel materials to and from construction areas, including asphalt and dirt.
+ Follow all safety procedures and use personal protective equipment (PPE) on the job site and report violations immediately to management.
+ Maintain a safe and clean job site by handling materials and storing them properly, picking up and removing all tools and equipment when not in use, and securing the job site on a daily basis.
+ Load and unload construction supplies from trucks both manually and with the use of equipment.
+ Report incidents immediately to the foreman or Site Safety and Health Officer in accordance with incident reporting procedures established by the company.
+ Perform heavy manual labor such as: digging, lifting, hauling, spraying, etc.
+ Operate cement mixer, set concrete formwork, place, shovel, and finish concrete.
+ Prepare surfaces for paving and shovel and spread asphalt.
+ Participate in concrete or asphalt preparation and installation.
+ Perform manual unskilled labor as required.
+ Assist in the installation and assembly of building components.
+ Assist skilled workers, such as carpenters and masons, with their tasks .
+ Specific job duties may vary depending on the project requirements and the prevailing wage determination.
+ Perform other job duties as assigned.
Qualifications
+ Must be a U.S. Citizen or US Person
+ Valid driver’s license and/or State ID Card
+ Previous experience as a construction laborer or related field is preferred.
+ Understanding of construction techniques and familiarity with various construction materials.
+ Ability to perform physical labor and work in various weather conditions.
+ Effective communication skills and the ability to follow instructions.
+ Committed to safety rules.
+ Strong work ethic, reliability, and the ability to work as part of a team.
+ Familiarity with hand and power tools commonly used in construction.
+ Willingness to undergo any necessary background checks and drug testing as required by the project.
Physical Requirements
+ Ability to traverse and inspect all areas of the jobsite in various weather conditions.
+ Capability to perform physical tasks, including walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crouching, kneeling, crawling, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
