Facilitates lactation education, resources and support to patients and healthcare providers including nurses, mid-wives, physicians, educators, and social service personnel ensuring services provided are consistent with organizational policies, applicable research and current standards. Delivers individual and classroom lactation education as needed. Evaluates specific lactation problems by telephone and develops a management and follow-up plan of care when indicated. **Job Description** : **EDUCATION:** HS Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) **CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE:** IBLCE-Certified Lactation Consultant (certification may be required by entity and time to acquire dependent on qualifications for exam) BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider RN-Registered Nurse of California, preferred **TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:** 2 years recent relevant experience. Outpatient experience strongly preferred. **SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:** Maternal-infant assessment skills. Organizational skills with ability to prioritize, problem solve and meet deadlines. Interpersonal and customer service skills. Ability to manage own time and schedule own tasks.
