Responsibilities
Job Summary:
Provides delivery of Lactation Services, including providing breastfeeding assessment, plan of care, intervention, and support for mother/infant couplets. Provides access to, and instructions for the use of, breastfeeding equipment and devices, and provides referrals to healthcare providers as appropriate for follow-up. Work requires the services of a Registered Nurse who, based on training and work experience, uses considerable professional knowledge and judgment in creating plans of care, evaluating patients, and providing consultation on best practices for medications and lactation.

Qualifications
Education/Experience:
Associate’s degree in Nursing and four years recent related work experience involving childbearing families or maternal health nursing that demonstrates attainment of the requisite job knowledge skills/abilities. Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.License/Certification:
Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Washington State Board of Nursing. Current certification by International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (I.B.L.C.E.); OR have submitted an application to sit for the exam at the next scheduled examination offering date, with certification obtained within 3 months of taking the examination.BLS
