Join our dynamic team as a LAN Communications Technician contractor at a United States Space Force installation. In this role, you will be integral to maintaining the integrity, efficiency, and security of our LAN communication systems while providing crucial technical support to our personnel. Responsibilities Technical Support: Provide frontline technical support for LAN communication systems, VOIP phones, and software applications, ensuring uninterrupted communication channels. Responsible for supporting and troubleshooting a variety of technologies to include: Cisco, Juniper, fiber backbone, Network interconnectivity, desktops/laptops, tablets, Local Area Network printers/scanners/peripherals, software management, communication devices (PBX, mobile, VTC, LMR, VOIP), COMSEC. Network Administration: Manage Active Directory, server configurations, oversee software installations, and implement patch management strategies. In collaboration with DISA, AFNET, AFCED, technicians will be responsible as the local ISO for the installation to ensure network administration in secure. Cybersecurity: Ensure compliance with cybersecurity policies, conduct security assessments, and implement controls to safeguard our network infrastructure. DoD Directive 8570/8140; NIST SP 800-171 compliance. Problem-Solving: Collaborate with IT professionals to resolve technical issues and contribute to continuous improvement. Regulatory Adherence: Adhere to DoD regulations and security protocols for handling controlled unclassified information. DoD Instruction 5200.48: Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI). Professional Development: Engage in ongoing training to stay updated on emerging technologies and cybersecurity best practices. Additional Responsibilities: Disaster Recovery Planning: Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans for LAN communication systems. Vendor Management: Interface with vendors to procure hardware, software, and services. Performance Optimization: Monitor network performance and optimize bandwidth utilization. Policy Development: Assist in the development and enforcement of network security policies. User Training: Conduct training sessions on cybersecurity best practices and safe computing habits. Documentation Maintenance: Update network documentation regularly for troubleshooting and auditing purposes. Technology Evaluation: Stay informed about emerging technologies and trends in LAN communications. Qualifications U.S Citizenship and must have ability to obtain DoD SECRET clearance required. Must have ONE of the following certifications: CompTIA Security, Cloud + GICSP, GSEC, or SSCP. Minimum one year of experience in IT support roles, including LAN communication systems and cybersecurity. Strong understanding of networking principles and protocols. Experience supporting variety of IT technologies (Laptops, Mobile Devices, Radios, etc.) Experience with active directory server management, VOIP phones, and network monitoring tools. Self-motivated and proactive – able to work independently with minimal supervision, identify opportunities and develop new ideas. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Ability to push, pull, kneel, bend, reach and lift 40-50 lbs. Desired Qualifications: Associate or bachelor’s degree in a technology-related field preferred. Master's degree in a technology-related field is an asset. Cisco, Microsoft, CompTIA Net+ certifications. Advanced certifications in cybersecurity or networking. DoD IAM level 2 and above certification: CySA, CASP, CCNA, CCNP, CISM, CISSP. Ability to install Cisco and Juniper switches and complex fiber backbone interconnectivity. Knowledge and experience connecting/patching/repairing Cat5/Cat6/Fiber infrastructure. Previous DoD or military experience.
