LAN/IT Desktop Support Engineer

Description: Client has an immediate need for a highly motivated IT Support Engineers to provide IT LAN and Desktop support for the government and contractor staff.Our client is in the process of collocating its staff and contractors to an offsite facility. This move requires the client to acquire Information Technology (IT) Local Area Network (LAN) and Desktop Support for the offsite facility. The candidate must be able to pass a Federal Suitability Check for a position of public trust. 
Specifically the successful candidate will perform the on-site installation, configuration and maintenance of servers, workstations, laptops, desktop, Blackberries, LAN printers, authorized software, hardware and peripherals. 
Some specific examples of the kinds of tasks include:
Provide the expertise, technical knowledge, and necessary resources to support staff and contractor's IT/LAN requirements. 
Respond daily to user requests for IT support service.
Image, configure, deploy and troubleshoot government workstations, laptops, servers, Blackberries
Install, configure, and troubleshoot desktop and network printers. 
Administer and troubleshoot Active Directory (AD) user accounts.
Administer and troubleshoot Microsoft Exchange email accounts.
Administer and troubleshoot Windows Operating Systems, various suites of software including but not limited to Microsoft and Adobe.
Administer and troubleshoot file, print and database servers
Create technical documentation; for example, "how to" documents.
Recording laptop information in logs for tracking.
Encrypting and Imaging of laptops.
Installing Software on the laptops.
Assisting with the rollout of the laptops to staff
Migration of all laptops to Microsoft Windows 7 64 bit.

Skills Requirements:
Required Skills
Respond daily to user requests for IT support services by providing IT support to users both onsite and in remote locations in the Woodlawn area.
Image, configure and deploy government workstations and laptops with Windows 7 operating system.
Install, configure, and troubleshoot desktop and network printers.
Administer Active Directory (AD) by creating new user accounts and groups, managing security settings and access permissions for groups or individuals, administering Organizational Units and Group Policy objects, and disabling and enabling AD accounts.
Setup, configure, administer, support and troubleshoot Microsoft Exchange email accounts;
Create, support, administer and troubleshoot Microsoft Exchange distribution lists, individual and group mailboxes, and move mailboxes, user accounts across domains and update user information in the Global Address List.
Support, administer and troubleshoot issues with Windows Operating Systems, Adobe, and Microsoft software including but not limited to Outlook including personal folders, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Project, and Visio.
Install, support and troubleshoot agency-approved third party auxiliary software including but not limited to Colligo, Snagit, and Symantec Desktop Laptop Option (DLO).
Provide setup and support of Windows file, print and database servers including setup and administration of file shares and manage, support and troubleshoot file and folder permissions.
Provide application development support by maintaining, supporting and troubleshooting web servers, managing access to network resources and databases including SQL and IIS.
Troubleshoot network, internet\intranet and wireless network connectivity issues. 
Provide blackberry setup, configuration, troubleshooting and provide onsite and remote support for approximately 75 blackberry users.
Create technical documentation such as "how to" documents for a technical knowledgebase.

Desired Skills
Must be able to navigate in a Windows workstation setting, and have excellent knowledge of the Microsoft office suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
Familiarity with Cisco routers and switches.
Understanding of SMTP, DHCP, DNS, TCPIP subnets, LDAP.
Diagnostic and troubleshooting skills of highly integrated complex environments.
Familiarity with Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM). 
Ability to meet deadlines, concentrate and to pay attention to detail.
Experience with software development and integration efforts for large-scale development projects.
Experience working as a government contractor.
Good interpersonal and communication skills necessary to work effectively with customers and other team members.

Education
Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline or equivalent experience with 11 years of professional experience.
