About the position:

We are currently seeking a Land Acquisitioner in our growing Birmingham/Tuscaloosa division Our Land Acquisitioners work with property owners, brokers, land developers, city officials, and others to acquire and secure undeveloped land and/or finished lots for development.

The person in this role is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with brokers, landowners, and land developers as well as researching and conducting cold call inquiries for potential leads. We are looking for a candidate who is comfortable initiating and conducting outreach efforts.

Essential Functions:

Coordinate, secure, and organize land acquisition leadsReceive and provide initial response plan for all new leads from outside sourcesPerform title and municipal research; initiate “cold call” inquiries for potential land leadUnderwrite and analyze financial aspects of each development opportunityOrganize preliminary meeting(s) with sellers and/or their representatives; negotiate purchase contracts with sellersBuild and maintain relationships with land developers, brokers, and land owners; communicate regularly with city officialsPrepare letters of intentUpdate management regularly regarding property description information, seller demands, terms, conditions, and contact informationOther duties as assigned

Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year university or college in Business, Real Estate/Land Development, Construction, or other related field of study7 years of related experienceDemonstrated experience speaking with public officials and presenting at city meetingsAbility to travel overnight

Working environment:

Land Acquisitioners generally work in a typical office environment with moderate noise levels, but may be out in the field as well. Candidates should be comfortable frequently communicating with the public and colleagues face-to-face, over the phone, or through electronic means. Candidates should be able to sit for the majority of an 8-hour work-day as well as possess the ability to traverse across the office; use hands to handle or feel objects and reach; possess close and peripheral vision; and be able to speak and hear.
