Your OpportunityStantec is now accepting resumes for Summer 2025 Civil Engineering interns within our Community Development Group in multiple locations throughout the Midwest. As an intern, you will work in a team environment and have exposure to community development projects that may include urban design and planning, roadways, park and recreation design, multi-use trail and pathway design, traffic engineering, landscape architecture, assessment and rehabilitation, infrastructure design, water and wastewater conveyance, and storm water management. Your Key Responsibilities Use technical and communication abilities to complete the civil component of a wide variety of projects in a dynamic design team setting. Inspect construction sites for compliance with project documents and engineering principles. Assist with preparation of plans and specifications, reports, and other project deliverables. Attend meetings on an as needed basis. Complete detailed reports as required. Procure permits and other approvals from various agencies. Communicate effectively with construction and engineering staff, clients, and other project stakeholders. Assist with CAD drafting and design, and preparation of construction documents. Your Capabilities and Credentials Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Requires understanding of basic AutoCAD and Civil 3D. Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills Strong interest in community development engineering disciplines Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and take direction. Ability to work independently. Must have a vehicle, good driving record, and valid driver’s license. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen. Education and ExperienceIn progress toward earning a bachelor’s degree (minimum) in civil engineering, structural engineering, architecture, environmental, construction management or related field required.
Specific coursework or exposure to one or more of the following is desired: planning, design, construction, architecture, infrastructure, hydrology, environmental, surveying and construction management.
Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Typical office environment working with computers and working at a desk.
