Land Development Traffic/Transportation Engineer

BL Companies is looking to hire an energetic Traffic/Transportation Engineer with 5+ Years of experience to join our growing Land Development Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the preparation of traffic impact studies, traffic signal designs, roadway design and specifications, planning, and local and state permitting for a variety of Land Development projects. The Engineer will have the opportunity to work in a fast-paced project delivery environment and will see projects from initial concept through completion..

Responsibilities:

Lead technical aspects/provide assistance on a variety of traffic and transportation-related projects Perform detailed engineering tasks, such as traffic analysis; traffic signal sequencing, phasing, and timing; traffic data collection; technical reports; and traffic modeling and simulation Prepare engineering plans, including traffic signal design; intersection geometrics, including Complete Streets principles; signing and pavement markings; and temporary traffic control and construction staging plans Assist in preparation of contract documents, including plans, technical specifications, and construction cost estimates Supervise and complete traffic planning and engineering analyses, alternatives analysis, and designs Prepare materials and attend project-related meetings outside of the office with clients, agencies, and the public Attend client meetings, presentations, and public hearings Maintain organized project files Provide technical guidance to junior staff and aid in the delegation of tasks

Required Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering; PE Certification preferred 5+ years previous experience in traffic/transportation engineering Working knowledge of AutoCAD or Civil 3D, MicroStation, Synchro, and Microsoft Office Suite applications Public speaking experience representing clients and their respective projects at local public meetings preferred Knowledge of State DOT permitting (OSTA, Encroachment Permits, Physical Alteration Permits, etc.) Excellent communication skills, written, and verbal Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and judgment capabilities Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment
