Job Description
Our client partners with commercial, residential, and government clients to deliver Land Development solutions. They perform Land Development Engineering, Land Planning, and Land Surveying. They are urgently hiring a Landscape Architect to join their team. This person can sit in either the Woodbridge, VA or Fairfax, VA office. The Landscape Architect/Planner will assist team members on all phases of projects with an emphasis on graphic development and technical documentation. The LA will utilize problem-solving, critical thinking, creativity, and communication skills to learn and complete the responsibilities asked of them.
ResponsibilitiesWork with project team members to guide and shape the design and delivery of projects of various scales and types.Assist with the preparation of design and construction drawings for both landscape and general site designs including layout, grading, and hardscape.Work closely with senior team members to generate conceptual designs using a variety of hand-drawn and digital techniques.Participate in team design charrettes, bringing thoughts and ideas to the team.Progressively build skillset and efficiencies in design platforms such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, SketchUp, and Adobe Suite.Prepare digital graphics and renderings with Adobe Creative Suite and presentation software.Provide graphic design, technical production, urban and landscape design, and site planning support for a variety of projects including but not limited to mixed-use residential development, streetscapes, parks, and other community facility design.Remain current with Local, State, and Federal design standards and regulations to ensure compliance.Maintain excellent knowledge of planting design and plant material suitable for the project region.Perform QA/QC of own work before submission to senior team members.Assist with the design and development of models in AutoCAD and SketchUp.Learn from previous design efforts to build skillsets.Bring new technologies and programs forward that could assist in project goals.Preparation of feasibility studies, code analysis, planting plans, conceptual layouts, graphic presentations materials, landscape and hardscape designs, miscellaneous research related to new or potential residential and commercial projects.Assist in preparation of entitlement plans and design guidelines.Assist in preparation of graphic exhibits, site plan illustrative, and 3D visualization work.Assist the engineering department to include the preparation of landscape plans, arborist or tree preservation plans, other items that may be deemed pertinent.Essential Skills3-10 years of landscape architecture/design experience within Northern Virginia region (specific experience within Fairfax, Loudoun, Prince William, Arlington, Stafford, and Culpeper Counties is preferred)Comprehensive knowledge of place-making in both urban and suburban settings.Experience in preparing design guidelines, master zoning plans, generalized development plans, and conceptual and/or final development plans.Working knowledge of the entitlement process within one or more of these jurisdictions, including applications for rezonings, special use permits, special exceptions, and special permits.Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and other relevant design software.Work Environment
The team works on a variety of projects but mainly focuses on residential communities and commercial types in all phases. The team consists of 36 people split between four current teams that support different project types. The office has a flexible schedule, allowing remote work for part of the week once proficient in the role. The environment is fast-paced, and individuals who ask questions and have a 'head down' approach fit in well. Monthly training helps build skills, there is a telecommuting opportunity, a low turnover rate, bonuses awarded based on performance, and premium compensation.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $100000.00
