Job Description

Our Global Architecture & Urbanism Division combines the expertise of IBI’s Buildings and Placemaking practice, our Places’ capabilities, and CRTKL’s multi-sector design leadership to offer a diverse range of solutions focusing on human-centric design, sustainability, and technology. 

Arcadis is seeking a talented and experienced Landscape Architectural Technologist/Landscape Construction Inspector to join our Calgary Landscape Architecture + Urban Design Studio, working on diverse projects throughout Alberta as well as providing support to our other offices in the west region. Our Calgary office includes one of the longest established Landscape Architectural practices in Western Canada and since joining Arcadis from IBI Group, we have continued to evolve into a thriving, diverse, stable and energetic Landscape Architecture + Urban Design studio. As part of this team, you will help and support the design of high quality and sustainable public and private spaces. You will be working within a fast-paced and dynamic environment, involved in all phases of projects from schematic design through to contract administration. Your role will be critical in ensuring that designs are brought to life with creative technical solutions and through site inspections and reviews.

Role Accountabilities:

Work with Landscape Architects to prepare conceptual designs and assist throughout design development and construction documentationCollaborate with other disciplines including planning, architectural and engineering technologistsWork cooperatively as part of a team and collaboratively with peers and clients, internally and externally.Ensure project deliverables comply with local standards and contract requirementsPrepare construction detail drawings using CAD and LandFXComplete quantity take-offs and prepare cost estimatesMonitor and inspect construction works, and complete contract administration tasksAssist with preparation of specifications and technical reportsAssist with generating presentation drawings using Adobe Suite and Sketch UpMeet project deadlinesEstablish and maintain good working relationships with contractorsOn-site field reviews and landscape construction inspections (including associated paperwork)Support the project manager and landscape architect

Qualifications

Qualifications and Experience:

Diploma in Landscape Architectural Technology5-10 years of experience as a Landscape Architectural TechnologistConstruction knowledge and field experienceExperience with contract administration (construction monitoring and inspections, etc.)Knowledge of local plant materials and construction methodologiesExperience in preparation of contract documents/working drawingsProficiency in AutoCAD, Land FX, Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite  and other graphics softwareExcellent oral, written and graphic communication skills;Organized with good interpersonal skillsAbility to work in a team and collaborative environmentValid driver’s license & vehicle
