The City currently has landscape architecture projects in all phases of the design and implementation process from conceptual to construction. This internship is an excellent opportunity for professional growth and development. The Division is seeking creative individuals who have the capacity to think conceptually, discuss solutions to complex design problems, and are able to work both autonomously and in teams. Flexible schedule and possible remote work to be determined once hired. Acceptable Experience and Training + Candidates for positions in this class must pass a post-employment offer physical examination and drug screen; + Possession of a valid Iowa driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility; If possess an out-of-state Driver's License, submittal of driving records is required. Required Special Qualifications + This position requires the individual be engaged in undergraduate or graduate studies at an accredited college or university with completion of at least 2 years (30 semester hours) of coursework with an emphasis in community and regional planning, architecture, landscape architecture or related field; OR + A recent graduate (within the past 12 months) from an accredited college or university with a degree in Community and Regional Planning, Architecture, Landscape Architecture or related field. Examples of Essential Work (Illustrative Only) Participate in a variety of projects, such as: + Works on a full range of assignments in the delivery of all project phases and construction administration; + Participate in project team meetings to discuss problems and develop design solutions; + Create design concepts and express graphically; + Conduct field visits and document site conditions; + Conduct research, develop metrics, and analyze data; + Prepare written information, maps and graphics for field reports and presentations; + Draft written descriptions of issues, project background, and proposals.
