**LASER / BRAKE CNC OPERATOR** **Job Description** **Department:** FABRICATION **FLSA Status:** Non Exempt (Hourly) **Date** : 2024 **Location:** KANSAS CITY **Summary** : LASER / PLASMA / PRESS BRAKE – The purpose of this role is to be able to produce quality metal fabrications by setting up and operating a CNC machine. You will be responsible for maintaining safety standards, and quality standards while operating the machines. Attention to detail and being processes oriented is required. Must be able to interpret blueprints and perform precise measurements with tape measures, calipers, gauges, micrometers etc. **Essential Duties and Responsibilities:** + Operates all equipment in a safe manner and uses safe work habits. Maintain a safe and clean working environment including complying with safety procedures, rules, and regulations. + Follows specifications or procedures for set-up, programming and machine operation using blueprints, instructions and machine knowledge. + Understand programming and functionality of the machine. Knowledge of the CNC controls is key to providing good parts. + Ensure the machine is working properly. Able to perform proper maintenance of the machine. Knowledge to troubleshoot problems as they arise. + Selects, measures, assembles and sets machine tooling including replacement of tooling when necessary. + Able to load and unload raw materials + Works closely with Material Handlers to obtain jobs and materials + Locate and ensure correct material is delivered to work center + Manage consumables + Ensure jobs are staged correctly after completion + Preferred Skills and Qualifications + High school diploma or 2-5 years’ experience in a production or manufacture environment + Experience in computer nesting programs + Computer skills including Microsoft skills (excel, word, etc.) + Familiarity with different CNC Lasers (Trumpf, Messer) **Physical Requirements:** + Works between an office and plant environment with exposure to varying degrees of temperatures and noise. + Ability to travel up to 5% of the time including overnight stays + Sitting, standing, walking for long periods of time + Ability to work a schedule with punctual attendance, Monday through Friday plus any additional hours necessary to meet business demands including some weekends + Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling etc. 50+ pounds regularly in 8–12-hour day, and up to 60 hours per week. + Must wear proper PPE + The ability to respond quickly and calmly to dangerous situations This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee.
