Job Summary:

The Laser Electro Optical Technician will integrate and test diode pumped lasers to produce the highest quality laser products.  The Technician will be able to work autonomously once trained and mastery is demonstrated on a product. Technicians will be called upon to conduct experiments for engineering when needed and assist the laser manufacturing and materials teams with laser subassemblies or quality control.  Our operations include various work environments for manufacturing and testing products including a Class 1000 Cleanroom environment, rooftop for drone operation, and different types of laser labs with electrostatic discharge (ESD) protocols.

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Integrate various laser sub-assemblies to produce laser modules and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) gimbals. 

Assemble and test different laser products using detailed work plans and work instructions to yield the highest quality products.

Visually inspect all components under a stereo microscope before and after assembly.

Record integration data and generate acceptance test performance reports.

Practice proper cleanroom protocol including use of smocks and other personal protective equipment (PPE).

Adhere to all laser safety work practices to ensure a safe work environment.

Ensure all tools and equipment are in proper working order and calibrated.

Work cohesively in a team environment to meet production demands.

Perform other tasks to assist laser operations as they arise to support team objectives.

Job Qualifications:

Competency in the operation of diode lasers, multimeters, oscilloscope, power supplies, thermal chambers, and microscopes required.

3-5 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment with high-complexity laser modules with a strong preference of working with solid state diode-pumped lasers highly preferred.

BS in a technical field (science, engineering) or AS in laser electro-optical technology strongly preferred.

The ability to troubleshoot laser systems and components to identify root causes of modes of failures.

Demonstrated ability to set up and use optical beamlines, bond optical subassemblies, and properly handle and clean laser grade optics.

Strong visual acuity in identifying optical defects or non-conformities.

High level of mechanical aptitude with the ability to handle and manipulate small mechanical-optical components.

Ability to follow detailed work instructions and interpret technical drawings.

Prior work experience within the electronics, aerospace, or high-tech industry preferred.

The ability to work either independently or cohesively within a team structure.

Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.

Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office with accuracy in data entry and record keeping.

Strong written and verbal communication.
