**Job Title: Lathe Machinist**
**Job Description**
As a Lathe Machinist, you will ensure the work area is clean, secure, and well-maintained. You will follow established processes, quality, and safety standards while continuously improving existing and new parts. You will machine parts to specifications using various machine tools, measure and test completed units for defects, and ensure conformance to specifications. You will set up, adjust, operate, and program machines to perform precision machining operations and monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
**Responsibilities**
+ Ensure the work area is clean, secure, and well-maintained.
+ Follow established processes, quality, and safety standards.
+ Machine parts to specifications using lathes, milling machines, shapers, and grinders.
+ Measure, examine, and test completed units for defects using precision instruments such as micrometers.
+ Set up, adjust, operate, and program machines to perform precision machining operations.
+ Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
+ Maintain machine tools in proper operational condition.
+ Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, or materials onto machines.
+ Confer with CNC lathe programmers to ensure new programs or machinery will function properly and meet specifications.
+ Diagnose machine tool malfunctions and determine necessary adjustments or repairs.
+ Dispose of scrap or waste material in accordance with company policies and environmental regulations.
+ Check workpieces to ensure they are properly lubricated or cooled.
+ Support metalworking projects from planning and fabrication through assembly, inspection, and testing using knowledge of machine functions, metal properties, and mathematics.
**Essential Skills**
+ Experience with blueprint reading and interpretation.
+ Proficiency in lathe setup, programming, and operation.
+ Strong troubleshooting skills for mechanical issues.
+ Experience with changeover processes.
+ Knowledge of machine shop theory and procedures.
+ Proficiency in shop mathematics and the machinability of materials.
+ Ability to perform precision machining operations.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ Ability to work both 1st and 2nd shifts.
+ Experience with CNC Lathe milling centers.
+ Knowledge of layout techniques.

**Work Environment**
This role involves continuous use of dexterity, manual/hand control, and repetitive motion. The job requires standing for long periods on hard surfaces, occasional bending or twisting of the body, and lifting up to 50 pounds at times. The work environment includes frequent exposure to various metal scraps and materials. Visual abilities required include close/distant vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Permanent position based out of Grandview, Missouri.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $43680.00 - $54080.00
