Launch Equipment Test Facility Controls Engineer (4561)
Bennett Aerospace Inc., a subsidiary of Three Saints Bay, LLC, and a Federal Government Contractor industry leader, is seeking a Engineer V/Engineer VI Launch Equipment Test Facility Controls Engineer at the Kennedy Space Center, Florida

The ideal candidate is an experienced, self-sufficient hands-on engineer with experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining control systems.  The role of the controls engineer includes leading all control system efforts, testing and troubleshooting, documenting controls configurations, and providing technical support to the team.  Candidates should have a manufacturing or industrial operations background with large and/or distributed mechanical/fluid systems and have demonstrated strengths in team leadership and management of complex projects.

Job Responsibilities

Control system and control panel design, parts specification, assembly oversight, and checkout PLC program and HMI development, implementation, testing/debugging, and final checkout Overall system troubleshooting, maintenance specifications and procedures development Development and updates for controls operation, maintenance, and training documentation Serve as a project lead and provide technical leadership Be responsible for maintaining the integrity and configuration of facility control systems Support design and leads implementation of facility controls upgrades and supporting system modifications to enhance operations capabilities Interface with technicians across a range of trade skills to assemble, troubleshoot, and operate complex equipment Provide effective communications with facility team, management, and customers Be responsible for guiding the efforts of less experienced team personnel and subcontractors

 

Job Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer, Electrical, or equivalent engineering discipline Ten or more years of experience with 5 years being in the controls field Current U.S. Citizenship is required PLC programming and HMI screen development and testing/debug experience Specific experience with Rockwell products such as: ControlLogix, CompactLogix, PlantPAx, Factory Talk Software Suite, Studio 5000, PLC5, SLC500, RSView, PanelView Plus, etc. Working knowledge of common industrial networks (MODBUS, EtherCat, EtherNet/IP, DeviceNet, ControlNet) Proficiency in troubleshooting control systems and an understanding of process controls Knowledge of VFDs, servos and common system interfaces (CIP, Field buses)  Understanding of the National Electric Code and UL 508A  Ability to create and read Process & Instrumentation drawings (P&IDs.), other mechanical drawings and electrical schematics Strong understanding of how things work mechanically and electrically as well as the ability to troubleshoot and learn new equipment processes Effective task/project organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills; detail and budget oriented Experience with MS Office products Excellent leadership, communication, and team skills; self-starter Strong communication skills, verbal, written and the ability to listen effectively Proficiency with Microsoft Office products Experience developing system, procurement, and test requirements and plans Experience writing Visual Basic scripts Proficiency in SCADA development and deployment Familiarity with Pro/E - Creo, AutoCAD or equivalent CAD/CAE systems Experience developing and implementing detailed control system electrical design packages Experience with LabVIEW, instrumentation, and distributed data acquisition systems General familiarity with KSC / space launch ground support equipment, processes, procedures, and documentation Experience working with Maximo or related work control systems

Background check Applicants selected will be subject to a Government background investigation and must meet eligibility and suitability requirements. Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a US Government security clearance. Successful Pass of Bennett Aerospace Background Investigation, Drug Screening and Credit Check.

Competitive market-based salary, commensurate with experience and education  Comprehensive benefits package available
