Laundry Aide
POSITION SUMMARY + The Laundry Aide is responsible for processing linen consisting of personal clothes from the Care Center and hospital style linen from the Hospital and Clinic. This includes sorting of linen by types plus resident clothes, running washer/extractor, folding by machine or hand, and delivery of linen and resident clothes. The Laundry Aide must assure machines are in proper condition and are responsible for maintaining an adequate supply of chemical and maintaining a clean and safe laundry environment. Performs duties efficiently with a commitment to quality and excellence. Must comply with the Department of Health, OSHA, CDC, NFPA, Joint Commission standards and Cuyuna Regional Medical Center policies. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS + Education and Experience: + Must have sufficient reading ability to read instructions and chemical product labels. Must have sufficient writing ability to compose/take phone messages and fill out request forms. Prior laundry experience and/or experience working in a healthcare facility and/or knowledge of laundry equipment and operations desirable. Must be able to follow written and oral instructions, interact with all members of the healthcare team, and respond appropriately to all requests. + License/Certificates: + N/A + Special Skills and Aptitudes: + Effective interpersonal relationship skills including good listening and communication skills. + Ability to adapt resources to meet the needs of the situation. + Ability to communicate effectively in variety of settings and with a variety of people at different organization levels. + Ability to operate all equipment for this position. + Exercises good judgment, flexibility, creativity, and insight to problem solving. + Adjusts to stressful situations with confidence and good judgment. + Uses supplies and equipment in a cost effective manner while ensuring safety and cleanliness. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES + Follows established policies and procedures of the Facilities Department. + Provides Care Center, Hospital, and Clinic with clean, tatter-free linens. + Maintains open communication with the Environmental Services Manager as well as other departments in order to provide quality service for the patient/resident and co-workers. + Sorts, washes and dries, folds, stacks, and distributes processed linen to various areas on the medical campus. + Operates washers, dryers, folding machines, and other equipment as needed. + Assists in orientation of new team members and coordination of daily tasks in a kind, professional, and patient manner. + Assists in maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment in the laundry department. + Upholds all safety rules and complies with all state and federal requirements. + Completes assigned duties and tasks. + Attends and participates in in-service education. + Follows other directives as requested by the Environmental Services Manager. + Assists in choosing and ordering supplies and linens for the facility. + Demonstrate Standards of Excellence when other duties are assigned.
