Position: Laundry Worker 01                                       Salary: $16.57/hour

DUTIES:

Performs basic repetitive laundry tasks under the supervision of a higher level employee. Sorts soiled laundry items by type, color, fabric, etc., in preparation to launder.

Pre-treats laundry as necessary to remove imbedded soil or stains. Places soiled laundry into available commercial washers, removes clean laundry from washers, shake out tangles, and places damp laundry into dryers. Removes laundry from dryers, folding rough-dry items (i.e., bedspreads, towels, etc.) and feed items (i.e., tablecloths, napkins, etc.) to be placed into flat work finisher (roller iron).

Folds finished items and places items into stacks of prescribed numbers and types. May wrap bundles of laundry using cell-wrap machine. Records quantities of items coming into and being issued out of the laundry on inventory sheets to maintain control of all items. Post-sorts laundry and removes damaged items.

 

Stacks and stores linens on proper shelves.

 

Keeps work areas clean, sanitized and otherwise free of debris and unsafe conditions. Reports all damage or problems with washers and dryers to supervisor.

 

Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Uses required safety equipment, and observes safe work procedures. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

             Minimum:

Must be able to read and comprehend written instructions and keep accurate records.Ability to stand continuously, stoop, bend, and walk. Requires constant movement of arms and hands. Must be able to Lift and carry objects up to 45 lbs independently and objects over 45 lbs with assistance.

  

            Preferred (in addition to the minimum): 

Six months experience as a laundry worker.One year general work experience.
