The 4th Judicial Districts Pottawattamie County Clerk of Court has one opening for a Law Clerk 1 with starting date of August 2025.
The starting salary for a Law Clerk 1 with the State of Iowa Judicial Branch is $55,224.00.
Hours:Monday – Friday 8:00A – 4:30P

Responsibilities:
Employees in this position perform research and administrative functions for multiple judges. Knowledge of substantive and procedural law and statutes applicable to jurisdiction of the district court. Ability to interact with the public, judges, attorneys, and government officials in a variety of situations and circumstances. Ability to formulate and express ideas on complex technical and legal subjects clearly and concisely, orally and in writing. This is intended to be a twelve month clerkship opportunity beginning in August of 2025. Depending on funding, availability, and performance, this clerkship may be extended up to an additional year. Under the direct supervision of the District Court Administrator and Chief Judge, candidates will have the desire to learn the complexities of our court case processing system using our statewide Electronic Document Management System (EDMS). This position may occasionally involve travel to other counties in the district.

Minimum Qualification Requirements
Graduation from an accredited law school is required. High standard of academic excellence and considerable experience in legal research and writing are desirable.
