Law Clerk II
+ Conducts on-site taint and discovery reviews for large, criminal cases prosecuted by the USAO. + Reviews hundreds of thousands of documents for Garrity material. + Reviews documents, creates indices, and summarizes the documents for analysis. The discovery review would involve reviewing documents, creating databases, coding, creating indices, and summarizing the documents for analysis. + Performs complex legal research. + Prepares draft legal documents, such as motions, briefs, memoranda of law, etc. + Reviews documents for relevance and privilege. + Assists attorneys with all phases of litigation. + Acts independently and/or as a team leader on larger projects. + Primary interface with trial attorneys, experts, and other client staff. + Produces high quality work using IPRO Eclipse, Relativity, and Excel, including tagging documents in IPRO Eclipse and Relativity. + Produces high quality work creating and using Excel spreadsheets. + Produces high quality work using PACER/ECR, Westlaw, and Lexis. + Works on criminal investigations (including researching and writing on issues arising in contentious litigation such as prosecutorial misconduct) of health care and tax crimes. **Minimum Requirements** : + Must be able to obtain and maintain MRPT facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for MRPT facility credentials/authorization at this work location. + Requires Law degree, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school, having completed at least two years of study or, an equivalent level of legal training or experience; or an equivalent level of education may be substituted. + Additionally, must have at least two years of progressively more responsible experience on litigation support projects or task order related projects including proven capabilities and communication skills to successfully interact with clients and attorneys. + Requires sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources. + Requires excellent written and oral communication skills. + Must have hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, and imaging. + Role also requires hands-on familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources. + Must have an active license to practice law in the state of California. This position supports an SCA (Service Contract Act) contract; therefore, the hourly wage is determined by the Department of Labor. This position is classified as a Paralegal/Legal Assistant IV and the hourly wage is $44.54/hr and is eligible for Health and Welfare. Amentum is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.
