BASIC QUALIFICATIONS 

This position entails access to export-controlled items and employment offers are conditioned upon an applicant's ability to lawfully obtain access to such items. Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. No relocation benefit is offered for this position. Candidates residing within a 50 miles radius of Dover NJ will only be considered.  High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

College level math (focus on trigonometry, geometry) Excellent Computer Skills Knowledge of customer and Howmet specifications and standards. Prefer 1-2 years manufacturing experience using metrology tools Two years college education in Engineering highly preferred 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/EQUIPMENT USED 

This position spends frequent amounts of time sitting and standing and in a manufacturing environment Equipment used includes complex measurement tools, gauges and computers

Howmet Aerospace is currently looking an Layout Inspector II to join our Dover Casting group in Dover, New Jersey. The work hours for this Day Shift are Monday - Friday

JOB SUMMARY

The Layout Inspector II performs accurate dimensional inspection on castings and calibration of tooling, fixtures and gauges on all levels of complexity using customer drawings, specifications and requirements in a minimum supervision environment.

ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH & SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Expected to assist in the implementation of EHS Values and policy statements and accompanying principals. Comply with all department, facility, corporate and regulatory EHS regulations. Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE). Report all job related illness and injuries (Per Employee Handbook). Report all safety, health and environmental concerns to your supervisor in a timely manner. Attend all EHS training.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 

Perform layouts on castings, gauges, casting to gauge correlations, gauge design verifications and R&R studies Support manufacturing operations by setting up and maintaining  electronic and mechanical  gauges in the work cells as per the daily schedule Ensure gauges are clean, calibrated and in proper working order Support work cell operators and engineering with respect to production needs Perform qualification and periodic calibration of gauges, fixtures, templates and measuring and test equipment Coordination of calibration schedules with outside vendors for CMM’s, surface plates, comparators, RAM optical units, etc. Assist with set-up, operation and maintenance of 3D printers Maintain calibration records and files Perform accurate and complete layout reports (including all sketches, charts, etc.) in a timely manner Planning of assignments to determine proper inspection method Advancement of methods/ideas for cost reduction Careful use and maintenance of all standard inspection tools Maintain a clean, organized work station Use computer to collect and report layout results Assist in training of new hires Able to write shop instructions Communicate with engineers, toolmakers, vendors,  and managers as required Proficient with speaking and reading English Perform other duties as assigned by supervision

INTERPERSONAL RESPONSIBILITIES 

This position has frequent internal contact with tooling, engineering and manufacturing.  External contacts include customers, venders and suppliers.
