A.  MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES (Key End Results)

1.  Contract administration and monitoring

2.  Drive increased machine performance and reduce machine downtime

3.  Improve preventative maintenance programs at mine level

4.  Provide customer with guidance and direction in operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment

5.  Conduct Quarterly meetings with customer and Joy personnel to monitor machine performance and recommend necessary process or product improvements

6. Develop machine rebuild specification and periodically monitor as it takes place in Joy COE

7.  Assist mine personnel evaluate failure that occur on the machine and recommend corrective action.

8.  Initiate and drive strategies that result in lowest cost per ton of material produced.

 

B.  NATURE OF POSITION

1.  Collect, manage, and evaluate Key Performance Indicators for improvement opportunities.

2.  Recommend and offer suggestions to most effectively utilize and safely operate the equipment.

3.  Advise the mine on proper maintenance procedures and development of preventative maintenance schedules.

4.  Leads regular continuous improvement meetings

5.  Assist mine personnel to evaluate electrical, hydraulic and mechanical failure and recommend corrective action.

6. Insure that the mine maintains an appropriate stock of OE and repaired replacement parts.

7. Schedule and oversee complete machine rebuilds covered under the contract.

C.  BACKGROUND

1.  3-5 years technical/maintenance experience with underground mining equipment

2.  Associates degree in Engineering Technology, Business or a related discipline.  Equivalent experience will be considered.

3.  Proficient with personal computer, Microsoft Office Suite, and SAP basics

 

D.  PREDOMINANT TASKS

1.  Complete regular machine inspections with customer

2.  Determine and implement effective preventative maintenance schedules with mine personnel

3.  Evaluate monthly parts and component usage, determine excessive use levels, suggest corrective actions

4.  Collect and manage Key Performance Indicators

5.  Complete regular inventory reviews to determine customer stocking requirements

6.  Conduct on-the-job training for equipment maintenance and operation

7.  Lead quarterly review teams

8.  Evaluate down time occurrences for improvement opportunities

9.  Complete machine commissioning requirements

10.  Act as liaison between Joy and mine personnel

11.  Observes equipment operation to ensure proper performance.  Suggests necessary improvements.

12.  Submit timely and comprehensive Field Service Reports related to machine performance and other activities

13.  Reduces contract liability exposure

14.  Initiates strategies that may be implemented by Joy or customer that will decrease cost per ton of material

mined.

15.  Maintain excellent relationships with key maintenance and operating staff at the mine location.

 

Job Overview

The position's primary contacts are customers. A typical interface will occur with Chief Electricians and underground supervisors. The position also has regular contact with the Warehouse operations to secure parts and the manufacturing facility to obtain technical assistance. 

Key Job Responsibilities This position understands State and Federal MSHA regulations and can identify and report to appropriate customer personnel unsafe actions and conditions at the mine section level.  Able to troubleshoot complex electrical/hydraulics or machine issues on a variety of Joy products and equipment.   Can conduct Joy equipment audits and analyze results to develop corrective actions and maintenance plans.  Able to provide customers with recommendations on maintenance strategies. Advise on equipment upgrades that improve productivity.  Able to link Joy maintenance recommendations to broader Joy systems such as Smart Services.   Plan and effectively coordinate the installation and flawless start-up of multiple or complex equipment integration issues.  Understand Joy drawings and tolerances associated with Joy equipment in order to ensure OEM compliance and advise customers on out-of-specification or defective parts or assemblies.   Able to identify operator or operation issues during underground observations. Able to link corrective actions to Joy training or system.   Assist Joy trainers with classroom instruction. May prepare and deliver short mine site-specific equipment training.  Use software system to analyze machine performance data.  Generate and provide reports to customers.  Utilize machine operator data to enhance performance and machine availability.  Can effectively and legally document underground data.  May mentor other entry-level Joy personnel.  Can prepare effective communications with the customer.  Can effectively influence customer decisions leading to repeat business.  Works with Sales Engineers and Alliance Managers to build and foster strategic partnerships.   Qualifications/Requirements Additional Information

Customer companies are provided with timely support on the installation of new and rebuilt equipment, ensuring customer satisfaction.  Customer companies are provided with technical support in the repair and troubleshooting of both new and rebuilt equipment.  Sales Engineer is assisted in development of customer specifications when preparing specific machine proposals.  Repair parts and components are sold.  Sales Team is assisted in meeting territorial sales objectives.
