The LCMS group within the R&D Discovery and Technology Futures group is looking for a dedicated and energetic LCMS Service Engineer to join our in-house team and provide critical support for mass spectrometry and HPLC instruments. The successful candidate will join a team of experienced scientists at the BS, MS, and PhD levels. We are looking for a detail-oriented, motivated individual with a strong instrument service background and familiarity with SCIEX systems and varied LC instrumentation.
What you will do
Provide onsite service including repairs and preventive maintenance of LCMS and HPLC systems
Order and maintain inventory of spare parts: ordering, usage, returns, physical count, etc.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to resolve issues and improve processes.
Remain up to date on technical bulletins from vendors.
May be required to perform other related duties as required and/or assigned.
What you need to succeed
AA in electronics technology, biomedical engineering, electrical or similar with at least 10 years of experience
BS in biomedical engineering, electrical engineering or similar with 5-7 years of experience
Experience with operating, troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating complex analyzers or systems preferred.
Experience with SCIEX, Thermo or Bruker mass spectrometers a plus.
Strong competency on Windows and other software, network knowledge, electrical/electronics, mechanics, chemistry technology; an analytical thinker with good engineering aptitude.
Exercise judgment in setting work priorities and identifying next steps.
Able to quickly adapt to change with positive and constructive feedback.
Work in a fast-paced environment with minimum supervision.
Detail-oriented and ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively, in a team environment.
Ability to take initiative and be accountable.
Demonstrated ability to critically evaluate techniques and results and implement improved practices.
Must be able to stand, bend, and/or kneel for up to two hours at a time.
Ability to move around equipment, lift, push, crawl, and help maintain a safe working lab environment that changes as needs evolve.
Some exposure to biohazards is a possibility as these instruments are used in biohazard environments and encounter human and animal bodily fluids.
