What you will do:
 

Oversee & execute chemical analysis of plant tissues, soils, and agrochemical products via a variety of elemental analysis and spectroscopic techniques. Maintain laboratory equipment and instrumentation, including hands-on instrument troubleshooting & repair. Manage external vendor visits for lab instrument maintenance, or other facility needs (e.g. waste disposal, lab gas delivery). Perform advanced chemical analysis as needed, e.g. liquid chromatography & mass spectrometry. Manage and maintain a working library of analytical instrumentation Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)s. This includes authoring new SOPs and updating outdated SOPs to current versions. Be accountable for the reporting & timely distribution of analytical results, while ensuring data accuracy. Monitor & maintain our internally developed data reporting tool. Collaborate with research & development colleagues, serving as a subject matter expert in analytical method development. Maintain a stock of laboratory consumables for instrumentation and supplies for the general laboratory. Organize workflow for day-to-day operations and direct technician(s) on daily workload expectations. Maintain an exemplary laboratory space in terms of safety and compliance and follow all personal protective equipment requirements. Act as a leader and example for the company’s Behavioral Standards, which focus on Safety, Integrity, Inclusion, Performance, Community, and Innovation.

What you will bring:
 

Bachelor’s degree in chemistry required; Master’s or Ph.D. preferred. 5 to 10 years of experience working in a laboratory. A specialty in analytical chemistry with an emphasis in agriculture. Experience with Microsoft suite (Excel, Work, Outlook, etc.)

Salary Range $69,650 - $119,400/annually. This range is estimated for a Lead, Analytical Chemistry in the State of California. Actual salary and benefits may differ based upon location.
