Job Overview
As a Lead Business Insights Analyst, you’ll harness the power of data and analytical methods to tell a compelling story that turns insight into action for your stakeholders. You will lead a segment of work within an agile business insights pod and deploy comprehensive BI products that drive strategic decision making. You will have direct relationships with key business stakeholders and operate with a strong consultive mindset- always striving to anticipate the needs of the business and provide innovative solutions.
What You Will Do
Works with BI Leadership and Stakeholders to understand business objectives, map scope of work, and lead junior colleagues in achieving technical deliverables. Serves as a contact for stakeholders within the scope of projects they lead. Promptly responds to inquiries and escalates as needed. Invests in strong relationships with colleagues and builds a successful followership around a common goal. Applies statistical methods to uncover patterns and insights, and interpreting results through various analytical techniques, from basic data aggregation to advanced statistical analysis. Supports discussions with Data Engineers to work on data collection, storage, and retrieval processes. Collaborate with Data Governance to identify data issues and propose data cleansing or enhancement solutions. Lead projects with analytical best practices, linking data sources with quality and reliability. Utilizes interactive visualization tools to turn data into insights that tell a compelling story with a strong eye for user experience. Leads key validation/ QA tests and peer review processes to ensure integrity of the data displayed on reports. Provides post-implementation support, including supporting the resolution of defects and actual “in-field” use of ad hoc reports. Manage Power BI Administration activities including capacity, data connections, User/Group access provisioning, etc. Drive continuous improvement efforts in enhancing performance and providing increased functionality, including developing processes for automation. Update and maintain existing datasets and reports.Skills You Will Need
Leadership: Ability to lead portions of pod iteratives; can clearly communicate priorities and play an effective technical support role for junior colleagues. Consultive Mindset: Go beyond just providing analytics and actively engage stakeholders to understand their challenges and goals. Ability to have a business-first viewpoint when developing solutions. Technical Acumen: Knowledge of data pipelines and ability to lead BI configurations, advanced report programming, and technical queries (SQL, R, Python, etc.). Communication: Maintaining timely communication with management and stakeholders on project progress, issues, and concerns. Developing effective communication plans tailored to diverse audiences. Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Outstanding analytical skills with attention to detail, strong documentation, organization, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
Who You Are
5+ years of work experience analyzing data and building comprehensive dashboards in a retail enterprise setting. Familiarity with project management and collaboration tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence). Able to think critically and make well-reasoned decisions based on data and insights An ongoing learner who seeks out emerging technology and can influence others to think innovatively. Gets energized by fast-paced environments and capable of supporting multiple projects - can identify primary and secondary objectives, prioritize time, and communicate timelines to team members. Must be highly autonomous and comfortable working in an ambiguous, continually changing environment. Passionate about building great BI products and solving customer and business problems. Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel. Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms. Requires close vision.
