Position Summary:
The Lead, Product Development & Innovation for Celebrity Cruises will be responsible for ideating, planning, and delivering high-quality products and experiences for our guests in partnership with cross-functional teams. This position champions the product vision and strategy to every stakeholder and partner, ensuring "The Celebrity Way" is manifested both on ship and shore.
Reporting to the Director, Product Development & Innovation, this role will manage the day-to-day development, implementation, and execution of new concepts, experiences, activities, programming, and excursions. This role will oversee all elements of the guest experience, from the initial brief through design and execution, ensuring that concepts are brought to life in line with strategic goals and with a full understanding of feasibility (operational and construction). To be successful, the Manager must work collaboratively with teams including Newbuild, Design, Consumer Insights, Operations, and Revenue Management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Product Strategy: Develop innovative concepts and briefs for the ship and shore experience that are grounded in guest insights and the Celebrity brand promise and deliver differentiated and superior guest experiences. Product Definition: Provide direct management, direction, and collaboration with all partners and stakeholders to ensure that the products being created are viable, feasible, and desirable for our guests. Product Definition: Ensure that through development, concepts remain marketable, drive guest satisfaction, and ultimately drive revenue. Product Delivery: Work with Operations, Newbuild, Marketing, and senior leadership to establish and maintain proper communication, collaboration, approvals, and planning. Product Delivery: Work closely with Newbuild and external design and operations partners to ensure the products meet brand expectations. Product Delivery: Work closely with operations and design teams on run-of-show events to showcase programming and ensure the guest experience will be delivered in line with strategy/vision. Product Delivery: Establish startup plans and training materials to ensure each concept/experience is flawlessly executed. Product Delivery: Collaborate with Marketing, Public Relations, Creative Agencies, and Revenue Management to ensure the latest information is accurately depicted in the brand’s communication and systems. Product Standards: Lead the collaborative effort to establish, evolve, and maintain our brand essence, ensuring product development standards, practices, and experience design guidelines are consistent. Product Standards: Own and manage the product and experience audit and post-delivery success monitoring of new products and experiences. Product Standards: Ensure onboard and onshore product delivery is consistent with the vision and playbooks of new products. Product Standards: Establish and maintain design experience guidelines to ensure Creative Agencies, Operations, and Newbuild teams (along with new hires within the team) have the needed information to develop proper branding, customer-centric programming, and design and build venues that deliver the desired guest experience. Product Roadmap: Work in close collaboration with the Project Management Office, Newbuild and Operations to ensure all milestones, goals, and timelines are being tracked as necessary to meet the proper design quality standards while ensuring the aspiration for each product and experience is delivered. Personnel Management: Responsible for all aspects of personnel management (e.g., hiring, training, and development) of direct reports. Personnel Management: Enhance and evolve the Product Development team direct reports by coaching and developing the required skills, roles, and responsibilities needed to concept and execute experiences for the brand.
Knowledge & Qualifications:
Minimum 5 to 10 years in a product, design or other similar role developing experiences for consumers Product owner experience required Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree a plus Experience working with Architects/Designers/Creative & Innovation Consultants a plus Experience in the travel industry a plus Proven track record of success in fast-paced environment with demanding timelines Experience developing products grounded in strategies driven by consumer insights Ability to effectively communicate across a large ecosystem of partners and builders, that spans product definition, design and construction Exceptional verbal and written communication and project/program leadership skills, including the ability to communicate effectively to the executive levels of the company Ability to assemble, lead and influence cross functional teams to execute against a vision Able to craft and tell a compelling, if not influential, story for partners and collaborators Able to document and package detailed operational requirements and experiences Proven ability to collaborate with and achieve actionable results through others, plus the ability to build strong and sustainable relationships Ability to creative problem solve and drive ideas into action, with a positive outlook and willingness to take personal initiative Obsessive attention to detail and follow-through Methodical in research, order, prioritization, and implementation Ability to travel up to 20% of the time
