Job Description:   

The Project Engineer (PE) is responsible for the needs of multiple programs as directed by the Lead PEs for those programs. The PE has technical authority from Engineering Leadership to execute assigned programs along with the Lead PE. This includes but is not limited to:

Planning and execution of program activitiesDocumenting and approval of program plansEnsuring life-cycle process adherenceRisk identification and managementCustomer and Senior Leadership interaction

Overall program coordination during the program lifecycle

The individual Engineering Functional Task Leaders (Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Specialty Engineering, Logistic Engineering, Technical Publications, etc.) report to and take direction from the PE for the assigned program operations.

The PE may coordinate with the Functional Managers in the utilization of Earned Value (EV) reporting to ensure consistency between the Functional and Program roll-up relative to performance against schedule and budgeted work scope.

The PE is also responsible for program technical performance that extends beyond the Engineering functions (such as Manufacturing and Hangar, Dock and Line (HD&L)) to ensure technical compliance within the total operations activities. In addition, Project Engineers are the key technical interfaces to Customers and have the responsibility to interact with Customers at every phase of the program lifecycle.

Job Qualification Requirements:  

Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. An advanced technical degree is strongly preferred. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.

An active DoD Secret Security Clearance with the ability to maintain a DoD Top Secret (SCI) Security Clearance, which requires U.S. Citizenship.Experience with the one or more of the following areas:Program planning, guidance, and engineering execution within scope, schedule, and budget.Broad understanding of engineering processes and policiesAircraft Integration, Test and Delivery experienceFAA Certification experienceExperience in one of the following disciplines:Aeronautical Engineering (electrical, structural, mechanical, stress, mass properties, aerodynamics, etc.)Software/Hardware EngineeringSystems Engineering (including Test Engineering)Project Engineering

Preferred Additional Skills:

Leadership Skills (obtained, for example, by being a Task Leader, IPT Leader, and/or Functional Manager)Executive Level Integration and Communication (to include internal and Customer stakeholders)
