We are rooted in our purpose of inspiring and enabling our customers to grow and sustain their prosperity.ROLE OVERVIEWThe Lead of Credit Risk Appetite, Credit Strategy and Credit Underwriting is responsible for managing the bank’s credit risk exposure, developing credit strategies, and overseeing the credit underwriting process. This includes setting the bank’s credit risk appetite and ensuring that all credit activities align with this appetite.KEY RESULT AREASDevelop and implement the bank’s credit risk appetite framework.Oversee the credit underwriting process to ensure it aligns with the bank’s credit risk appetite.Develop credit strategies to optimize the bank’s risk-return trade-off.Monitor the bank’s credit portfolio to identify potential risks.Report to senior management on the bank’s credit risk profile and any breaches of the risk appetite.Evaluation, reporting and monitoring credit risk appetite and credit strategy. Ensure compliance to relevant policies and standards.Evaluation, reporting and monitoring of the credit underwriting process e.g. credit applications, assess creditworthiness, and credit decisioning outputs.Credit Bureau Management.Compliance reporting (SACRRA and NCR).Provide support to customer facing teams relating to the credit onboarding process e.g. Service ops, Onboarding (customer experience), Customer Value Management.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field. An advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., CFA, FRM) is preferred.Minimum 8-12 years of experience in credit risk analytics and credit operations.Extensive experience in credit risk management, including experience in a senior leadership role.Strong understanding of credit products and credit markets.Familiarity with regulatory requirements related to credit risk.Excellent analytical and decision-making skills.

This role will be responsible for the management necessary to identify, evaluate, mitigate, and monitor the Group's financial risk. Part of the key deliverables will be developing the financial risk management tools and practices to analyze and report on financial market risks and to manage risks according to a financial risk management framework and relevant policies.

ResponsibilitiesMarket Risk Management

Spearhead a function's strategy for market risk management, reinforcing the organization's financial stability.

Pricing Strategy

Lead the development and implementation of the pricing strategy for a significant portfolio, anticipating complex issues, challenges, and opportunities, and ensuring integration with wider strategy.

Treasury and Trading

Develop and deliver operational plans for a large unit or division in line with the overall treasury/trading strategy.

Portfolio Management

Initiate and lead the governance and delivery of a program or group of significant projects within a function, using an appropriate project management methodology to give assurance that intended outcomes are identified and achieved.

Leadership and Direction

Identify and communicate the actions needed to implement the function's strategy and business plan within the business area or department; explain the relationship to the broader organization's mission, vision, and values; motivate people to commit to these tenets and do extraordinary things to achieve local business goals.

Budgeting

Manage budget plans for a department. May involve development or delivery or both.

Regulatory and Compliance Management

Monitor and manage a wide range of activities of a significant team, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements by liaising with all internal risk management functions while supporting the development and implementation of the organization's compliance policy.

Policies and Procedures Development

Develop policies, procedures, and related guidelines for an important area of responsibility within a function, ensuring compliance with external requirements and integration with the broader functional policy framework.

Information and Business Advice

Provide authoritative specialist advice to senior managers at the business unit or regional level to enable the implementation of policy, projects, and change initiatives.

Performance Management

Manage and report on performance within the department or area of responsibility; set appropriate performance objectives for direct reports and hold individuals accountable for achieving them; take appropriate corrective action where necessary to ensure the achievement of annual business objectives.

Organizational Capability Building

Evaluate the capabilities of staff within the department to identify gaps and prioritize development activities. Implement the organization's formal development frameworks within the area of responsibility. Coach and mentor others to support the development of the organization's talent pool.
