Overview
The Lead Accountant - Fabrication is responsible for overseeing and managing the cost accounting functions, including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, inventory, billing and cost reporting. The Lead Accountant is also responsible for preparing financial and productivity reports, analyzing and reviewing financial results and communicating with management regarding those results.
ResponsibilitiesSpecific responsibilities include:
• Daily & Weekly review of shop order performance including preparation of productivity, metrics, KPI and cost reporting and communicate results to fabrication management.
• Oversees timeliness and accuracy of payroll and shop order time submissions and reports to management on production utilization versus overhead.
• Oversees inventory issuance and shop order costing processes (labor & material), analyzes activity and prepares reports and reconciliations.
• Perform inventory reconciliations, facilitate, monitor and approve cycle counts and periodic inventory adjustments and review/approve item master additions for correct setup and UOM.
• Oversees billing processes including timeliness of billings, monitoring revenue recognized versus billings and reviewing accounts receivable to ensure managers focused on timely collections.
• Monitor and reconcile unvouchered liability related to material receipts and accounts payable, including review of correction submittals to accounts payable.
• Maintains understanding of labor calculations, including labor burden, fringe and other overhead allocations and ensures correct set up of shop order rates.
• Maintains understanding of or works with corporate accounting resources to ensure billings and purchases meet jurisdictional sales and use tax requirements.
• Prepares monthly financial reports and ad-hoc reports for operational review and decision making.
• Lead the annual budget process and prepare branch budgets, including analysis of actual results against budget and preparation of present estimates on a monthly basis.
• Assist Fabrication Management with Special Accounting Projects and Reporting, such as but not limited to, budgeting, financial forecasts, inventory and cost analysis and productivity reporting, including working directly with IT to enhance or create JDE reports and/or Power BI reports and dashboards.
• Ensure managers, coordinators and administrators are adequately trained to utilize financial tools, dashboards and reporting.
Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or similar field.
• 5-10 years experience
• Knowledge of general financial accounting and/or cost accounting
• Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work well with others and follow supervisory instructions in a corporate environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Versed in the industry and the Company’s competitors.
• Ability to multitask and perform duties outside of the scope of work when necessary.
Preferred Education, Experience, and Qualifications
• Certification as a CPA
• Experience with JDE Enterprise One
• Previous accounting experience with a fabrication shop or manufacturer

• 0-5% of time will be spent traveling to job site(s)/office location.
