LEAD ACCOUNTING SPECIALIST - CORPORATE OFFICE (AUSTIN, MN)
This position reports to Nadia Braaten - Director of Financial Accounting and Reporting.
Relocation is not eligible for this role.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a part of the Financial Accounting and Reporting team, you will play a critical role in protecting Hormel’s strong reputation and history of success by ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and relevance of financial reporting both internally and externally. This position is a key resource supporting the entire team with on-going accounting responsibilities as well as ad-hoc project work.
Performs periodic accounting duties, such as entering journal vouchers for accruals, prepaids, amortization, sales tonnage, and corporate expense allocations. Utilizes strong organizational skills and attention to detail to produce a high volume of work in a timely manner which is accurate, complete, and of high quality. Ensures the accuracy of entries through balance sheet reconciliations. Performs finance duties for corporate support functions such as the legal, communications, human resources, supply chain and other departments. Analyzes activities and makes appropriate corrections by identifying the root cause. Compiles and distributes financial results. Prepares headcount, salary and other expense analysis. Serves as a business partner to corporate leaders when finance-related questions arise. Provides support for the annual planning process for corporate departments. Compiles and consolidates P&L estimates from each business segment. Coordinates with each area to ensure timeliness and accuracy. Utilizes discretion in handling sensitive financial information. Monitors, benchmarks and provides insights related to peer company financial filings. Researches other accounting and disclosure topics as requested. Tracks and ensures timely payment of invoices related to benefit plans, reconciling weekly contributions and aids in benefit plan financial reporting. Gathers information and accurately prepares quarterly and annual government surveys and ensures timely submission. Serves as a key resource to the team by assisting with other accounting-related tasks as business needs require. Demonstrates flexibility to manage tasks for multiple stakeholders in a dynamic environment.QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
Associates Degree in Accounting and/or 3+ years’ experience in an accounting role. Ability to work in a team environment on a variety of projects across multiple levels of management. Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail. Professional verbal and written communication skills. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.Preferred

At Hormel Foods, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. The base hiring pay range for this role is between $23.25 - $32.55 per hour, and your actual base pay within that range will depend upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skill set, level of experience, and geographic market location.
