Summary About the position: This position will be assigned to the NAF Accounting Office. Responsibilities Performs a full range of accounting duties using double-entry accrual accounting methods. Classifies and verifies a wide variety of accounting documents in order to assure their mathematical correctness, completeness of information, and appropriate accounting codes. Maintains automated double-entry bookkeeping journals and subsidiary ledgers, posting entries to accounts monthly. Prepares monthly balances, reconciles accounts, and transcribes to general ledger for closeout of all accounts. Verifies accounting technicians documents for correctness. Traces discrepancies, if necessary, to posting documents and resolves errors. Prepare and distribute financial statements, quarterly reports and other miscellaneous reports as required. Provide guidance and training to accounting technicians and activity personnel. Checks work while in progress to assure instruction and work sequence, procedures, methods, and deadlines have been met. Must maintain a current knowledge of questions on procedures, policies, written instructions, and other directives. Under the direction of the Resource Manager, serves as a Services Employee Timekeeping System base administrator for payroll functions for all NAF employees. May perform supervisory duties in emergency or other short-term nonroccuring basis as assigned. Works under the direct supervision of the NAF Accounting Office Manager. Position of Trust. Qualifying Experience: Must have experience in work which provided comprehensive knowledge of fund accounting methods, procedures, and techniques used in maintaining and analyzing all classes of accounts in accounting system encompassing a number of diversified activities, ability to prepare financial settlements and reports. Knowledge and understanding of the regulations, guides and precedents sufficient to interpret and apply them in a variety of accounting situations. Knowledge of the accounting system sufficient to flow individual funds and specific monies from initiation through expenditure stages in order to trace discrepancies in the system. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI). Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution. Additional Information Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
