**Position Description:**
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Windows Active Directory (AD) Migration Subject Matter Expert (SME) to lead and oversee the migration of Active Directory services and infrastructure from legacy systems to a modernized platform. The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise in Active Directory architecture, migration tools, and best practices, as well as the ability to manage complex projects, provide guidance to teams, and ensure seamless transitions with minimal disruption to services.
Role can be worked near any CGI office - East Coast Time Zone
**Your future duties and responsibilities:**
AD Migration Planning & Strategy:
o Lead and design the strategy for migrating Active Directory infrastructure, including domain controllers, group policies, trusts, user accounts, and other AD-related services.
o Assess the current AD environment and identify areas for optimization, consolidation, or improvement. o Develop comprehensive migration plans, including risk assessments, resource allocation, timelines, and backup/recovery strategies.
o Develop runbooks for the AD migration steps that are applicable to the teams involved in the migration process
· Migration Execution:
o Oversee and execute AD migration projects, ensuring successful transition with minimal downtime or impact on business operations.
o Coordinate with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to ensure the migration is completed on time and within scope.
o Manage and execute the actual migration process for all components (user accounts, groups, organizational units, DNS settings, ReACL permissions, etc.).
Tools & Automation:
o Utilize industry-standard tools (e.g., ADMT, Binary Tree Migrator Pro, Quest AD migration tool, PowerShell scripts, third-party migration tools) to facilitate seamless AD migrations.
o Automate migration tasks wherever possible to reduce errors and increase efficiency. ·
Troubleshooting & Support:
o Provide ongoing troubleshooting support during the migration, addressing any issues with AD replication, DNS, or other related services
. o Offer solutions for resolving issues related to user authentication, group policies, and domain trusts.
· Documentation & Knowledge Transfer:
o Document the entire migration process, including configuration changes, troubleshooting steps, and lessons learned.
o Provide knowledge transfer and training to internal teams to ensure smooth post-migration management and support.
Compliance & Security:
o Ensure that the migration process adheres to security best practices and organizational compliance requirements.
o Implement and verify security measures such as encryption, multi-factor authentication (MFA), and secure group policies during the migration process.
**Required qualifications to be successful in this role:**
7+ years of hands-on experience with Windows Active Directory, including 3+ years specifically focused on AD migration projects.
o Proven experience with large-scale AD migrations (on-premises to cloud, cloud-to-cloud, or hybrid).
Technical Skills:
o In-depth knowledge of Active Directory architecture, services, group policies, trusts, and replication.
o Strong experience with migration tools like ADMT, Binary Tree Migrator Pro, Quest On demand Migration, or similar solutions.
o Proficient in PowerShell scripting for automation and troubleshooting.
o Experience with Windows Server versions, DNS, DHCP, and general networking protocols. Familiarity with hybrid environments (Azure AD, Office 365) and cloud-based identity management.
o In-depth knowledge of Active Directory architecture, services, group policies, trusts, and replication.
o Strong experience with migration tools like ADMT, Binary Tree Migrator Pro, Quest On demand Migration, or similar solutions.
o Proficient in PowerShell scripting for automation and troubleshooting.
o Experience with Windows Server versions, DNS, DHCP, and general networking protocols.
o Familiarity with hybrid environments (Azure AD, Office 365) and cloud-based identity management.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
CGI is required by law in some jurisdictions to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $97,000-169,700.
