This Opportunity:This position performs a variety of duties aimed at assisting the UMAR arts staff and participants to operate in an organized and communicative fashion at the day support. The Lead Arts Counselor facilitates the daily operations of the day support, communicates all changes in activities or scheduling to the arts staff and problem-solves any changes in staffing ratios, participant needs, vehicle usage and sharing. Characteristics which will support the primary tasks of the Lead Arts Counselor are a positive attitude, problem-solving and flexible approach with the ability to calmly multi-task under pressure.

What You'll Do:

Ensures that staff and participants remain in the correct staffing ratios as assigned.

Facilitates daily schedule, van routes and program scheduling. Makes changes to daily rotation if staff calls out or participant does not attend unexpectedly.

Problem solves methods for streamlining schedules as needed so they are easily understood and followed by staff and participants.

Ensures that all program systems and methods of operation are followed by staff and participants (ex: implementation of participant chore chart; morning meeting schedules and content, community outing protocols, etc.).

Ensures all participants are aware of their daily schedules and works with Charlotte Arts Manager to develop adaptive techniques to best involve participants in the daily operations of the arts center.

Gathers art supply orders and confers with staff on what materials are needed. Updates art inventory (how we keep track of our art on display offsite).

Monitors that arts supply and day program spending is not exceeding the monthly budget.

Communicates with home managers and QPs as needed regarding participant needs, transportation logistics, med errors, incident reports, etc.

Conducts monthly emergency drills and sends to main office.

Gathers art for sales/ festivals and orchestrates the delivery and set up of events. Leads the arts team in pricing and tagging all inventories.

Maintains gallery walls with art “ready to hang” (and or delegates to arts counselors this responsibility).

Ensures that all UMAR vehicles are scheduled for inspections and routine maintenance in a timely manner. Maintains cleanliness of UMAR vehicles including refueling when gas level is at ¼ tank.

Reviews and provides input into the development of the participants' Person-Centered Plan goals.

Administers medications or supervises participant that self-administer medications, including proper storage and documentation of medications administered.

Provides transportation to scheduled activities and/or vocational settings.

Leads weekly staff meetings informing the staff of volunteers coming to the program, event/activity changes, and participates in participant house meetings as requested.

Performs duties required to maintain participants in a safe, hygienic and supportive environment.

Maintain trainings as required and requested

Demonstrate knowledge of emergency procedures and assist in crisis situations

Demonstrate knowledge of and comply with all agency policies and procedures

Complete all other relevant responsibilities assigned by the supervisor

Driving and travel may be required

Schedule:Monday-Friday (7:30am-3:30pm)
