Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Building Maintenance Engineer with a comprehensive understanding of air conditioning principles, systems, and relevant industry standards for the maintenance of HVAC equipment. This role involves monitoring and making adjustments to various mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. The successful candidate will maintain, repair, and install a broad range of HVAC/R equipment and support systems, ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of the facilities.

ResponsibilitiesMonitor and adjust refrigeration, heat exchanger, HVAC, hot water systems, floor radiant heating systems.Oversee electrical systems including emergency alarms, generators, fire pumps, 480-volt 3-phase distribution systems, 120-volt systems, components, lighting, and low voltage systems.Maintain and repair plumbing systems including boilers, piping, pumps, water softeners, and water treatment systems.Check, service, clean, and replace filters in all A/C air handling and heating units, documenting the process.Train and counsel subordinate employees.Perform scheduled in-depth preventive maintenance and service/repair of HVAC mechanical systems and subsystems, DDC control systems, air-handling evaporation systems, chillers, rooftop equipment, split systems, window units, heating/cooling water circulation systems, fans, piping, pumps, and ice machines.Clean and maintain grills, ducts, and shaft ways in A/C, ventilating, and exhaust systems.Complete preventive maintenance as scheduled and keep records of tools used.Demonstrate knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and refrigeration codes and practices, coordinating work between/with other trades.Essential SkillsHVAC Freon Certification, Universal refrigerant certification.At least 5 years of specific trade and technical experience with installations, repairs, and troubleshooting in a commercial environment.Experience supervising others.Plant maintenance experience with chillers, hot water boilers, cooling towers, VFDs, and heat exchangers.Ability to lift 20-50 lbs. regularly, climb stairs and ladders, and work indoors or outside in hot or cold temperatures.Ability to work a flexible schedule in a 24/7 environment.Additional Skills & QualificationsUnderstanding and adherence to electrical, plumbing, and refrigeration codes and practices.Why Work Here?

Work Environment

Work in a prestigious university campus within the athletic department. This role requires the ability to work indoors or outdoors in varying temperatures and the flexibility to work a 24/7 schedule.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position, must complete 90 day probation, based out of Los Angeles, California.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $52.00/hr.
