Job Description
Purpose & Scope:
The Heart Station provides diagnostic services on a 24-hour basis to adult and geriatric patients with cardiovascular disorders. The Cardiac Sonographer is responsible for performing Echocardiograms, Stress Echocardiograms, Dobutamine Stress Echo's, Transesophageal Echocardiograms, and EKG's.
To provide administrative and clinical support under the direction of the Heart Station Supervisor with duties including, but not limited to: daily assignments and delegations, staff training, quality and education. Assist with statistical data, assist with accreditation and/or re-accreditation of the echo lab with IAC, and assist with other tasks delegated by the Heart Station Supervisor that may not be outlined in this scope.
Must have the ability to retrieve, communicate and present information in a written, oral or visual fashion. The knowledge to discern and report emergency findings is required. Good communication, writing and telephone skill are required for this position as well as light typing and filing.
Education:
Graduation from an accredited school of ultrasound is required.
Experience:
One year of experience in echocardiography or demonstrated leadership ability is required.
Certification/Licensure:
Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer required.
Other Qualifications
Clinical experience with echocardiography, stress echocardiography, transesophageal echo, contrast echo, 3D modality, structural heart echo, and strain studies preferred.
