Sargent & Lundy’s Government Services Division provides cutting-edge engineering design and consulting support to the management and operating contractors for US Department of Energy (DOE) sites and national laboratories. Specifically, we support the DOE Environmental Management Directorate as well as the National Nuclear Security Administration laboratories and sites. What does this mean? You can be a part of multi-discipline design teams supporting projects cleaning up the environmental damage associated with the legacy nuclear weapons production complex and/or preserving our country’s nuclear deterrent. Sargent & Lundy’s personnel design facilities, systems, and equipment that treat, store, and dispose of nuclear waste as well as systems that safely handle and process nuclear material. This is a senior-level design engineering position that offers a variety of challenging opportunities in Civil/Structural Engineering and will provide an excellent opportunity for career advancement. 

Lead Structural design engineering efforts on multi-disciplined project design teamResponsible for the production of engineering calculations/analyses, design drawings, specifications, and engineering reports.  Ensure that calculations and deliverables are technically sound and in accordance with project requirementsApply civil and structural engineering expertise to the design and qualification of structures, systems, and componentsProduce Procurement Specifications and Construction Specifications (Civil and/or Structural sections)Monitor the work of assigned staff on technical matters pertinent to project assignments; Maintain assigned tasks within schedule and budget to fit the needs of the projectsUse effective written and oral communication skills to convey information to project team members and managersPresent written technical information in a clear and concise manner in all deliverablesPrepare reports and deliverables that are clearly understood and meet client requirements; Communicate clearly in meetings with client and summarizes meeting notes in a clear and timely mannerProvide technical guidance to project team membersAttend project meetings and perform field walkdownsMay mentor new engineers Qualifications

Must be a U.S. Citizen; Dual citizenship with a country other than the U.S. does not qualify.

 

Essential skills and experience:

BSCE or MSCE, ME, or SE degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited programA minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in civil and structural engineeringExperience with producing engineering designs for foundations, structures, and support structuresExperience with ACI, ASCE 7, IBC, and AISCProficiency in finite element analysis software such as ANSYS or SAP2000 or equivalentMust be able to obtain US Government security clearance

Valued, but not required skills and experience:

Professional Engineering (PE) LicensureMultiple years of experience in a nuclear environment (DOE preferred, commercial or Navy), highly desirableStructural Engineering (SE) LicensureField Engineering and Construction Experience

$142,000 - $169,000
