This is an hourly position. $2.25 Night Shift Differential Overview POSITION SUMMARY: Reporting to the Assistant Manager of Ambulatory Diagnostic Radiology and/or the Manager of Diagnostic Radiology, the Program Director of the School of Radiography, and according to Radiologists’ directions and established procedures. The technologist will operate conventional, fluoroscopic, or portable radiology equipment to obtain images for use by physicians for the diagnosis and treatment of pathologies. Positions patients and adjusts x ray equipment to correct setting for each examination, manipulates images to create optimal studies, distributes images to the PACS system, and may reproduce images on alternate media as necessary. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care that is appropriate to the ages of the patients served. Although duties may vary by assigned area or shift, the following accurately describes the essential job functions. Responsibilities also include educating, supervising, and evaluating radiography students. Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: - Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care that is appropriate to the age of the patients served on their assigned unit(s) or by their department. This requires that the incumbent demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development as well as the physical, emotional and psychosocial needs of the patient population served. - Knowledge of diagnostic radiology principles and procedures at a level normally acquired through completion of two years post high school training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology. - Possesses current ARRT certification and IEMA (Illinois Emergency Management Agency) license. - Interpersonal skills sufficient to interact effectively with patients who may be under physical and/or emotional stress and gather and exchange routine patient information with nurses, physicians and other medical center personnel.
